October Ritual: Crossing Into the Midnight Dimension
October is when the door between here and there gets thin. This month's ritual uses The Midnight Dimension Tarot, the newest deck in the Nexus, to walk through it on purpose. What you need - The Midnight Dimension Tarot (or the free reader at /reader/decks/midnight-dimension) - One candle - A clock or watch you can see - A notebook 1. Stop the clock Light the candle after dark. Look at the clock and note the exact minute. Say out loud: "For the next ten minutes, time belongs to me." Put the clock face down. 2. Pull The Open Door Take The Fool, the card we call The Open Door, from the deck and set it upright in front of the candle. This is your threshold. Ask one question you have been afraid to ask. 3. Draw three from the other side Shuffle the rest of the deck and draw three cards face down, left to right: - What I left behind in the last dimension - What is waiting on the other side of the door - The twist I don't see coming Turn them over one at a time. Read each meaning in the reader, then write down your first reaction before you think about it. 4. Close the broadcast Turn the clock back over and note the time. Thank the deck, blow out the candle, and return The Open Door to the deck last. Read your notes again on the last night of October. Safety Never leave a candle burning unattended, and keep it away from cards, paper and curtains. The deck is in the shop at /decks/midnight-dimension-tarot, and every card can be read free in the reader.

October Rituals: The Veil-Thin Kit
October is the month the veil runs thin. This month's featured picks from The Lab are chosen for protection, clearing and grounding through the dark half of the year. Each one comes with a simple ritual you can do at home. 1. Black Obsidian — The Mirror Ward Set a piece of obsidian by your front door on the new moon. Each night, hold it for one breath and name one thing you will not carry inside. On Samhain night, rinse it under cold water and thank it for what it held. 2. Hematite, Obsidian & Tiger's Eye Bracelet — The Walking Shield Wear it on your left wrist whenever you leave the house this month. Before you step out, turn it once and say: "Grounded, guarded, going." 3. White Sage Smudge Stick — Clearing the Static After a heavy day, light the tip, let the flame go out, and walk the smoke counter-clockwise through each room. Open a window to let the old energy leave. Keep a heat-safe dish under it. 4. Selenite Bracelet — The Moonlight Reset Before bed, slip it off and lay it across your tarot deck overnight. In the morning, wear it again and pull one card for the day. Keep selenite dry; it does not like water. 5. Tiger's Eye — Courage for the Dark Half Pick one stone from your pound and carry it in your pocket through October. Whenever fear shows up, squeeze it and name the next small brave step. 6. Intuitive Mystery Box — The Samhain Draw Open your box on October 31. Without looking, draw one stone, then pull three cards: what to release, what to keep, what is coming. The stone you drew is your companion into November. Build the Kit All six are in The Lab now, pinned to the top of the shelf for October. Never leave a burning smudge stick unattended.

Tarot of the Month: October 2026 — The Moon
October's card is The Moon (XVIII). The Moon is the card of the half-seen road: headlights on fog, shapes that might be deer or might be nothing. It asks you to move forward without full information and to trust the instincts you've been ignoring. What it means this month - Intuition over evidence. If something feels off, it probably is — but don't invent monsters either. - Dreams are loud. Keep a notebook by the bed; October dreams tend to carry messages. - Hidden things surface. Expect a secret, a rumor or an old feeling to come up before Halloween. Working with it Pull The Moon from your deck and leave it face-up on your altar or desk for the month. When you're unsure, ask it one question: "What am I refusing to see?" Reversed energy If you draw it reversed this month, the fog is lifting. Confusion clears, and a lie you've been told (or told yourself) falls apart. Want your own card? Pull one in the Gonzo Reader.

Divination Need-to-Knows: 10 Facts Every Reader Should Know
New to the cards, or just curious? Here are the basics every reader should have in their pocket. 1. A tarot deck has 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. 2. The Minor Arcana has four suits of 14 cards each: Ace through Ten, plus Page, Knight, Queen and King. (In our decks the suits become Flares, Highballs, Razors and Chips.) 3. Tarot started as a card game. The earliest surviving decks were painted in 15th-century Italy and called tarocchi. 4. Using tarot for divination became popular in 18th-century France. 5. The Rider-Waite-Smith deck, published in 1909 and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, shaped how most modern decks look. 6. Oracle decks are not tarot. They have no fixed structure — any number of cards, any themes. 7. Reversals are optional. Many readers read upside-down cards as blocked or inward energy; many ignore them. Both are valid. 8. A spread is just a layout with a meaning for each position. The three-card Past / Present / Future is the classic starter. 9. Open questions work best. "What do I need to know about my job?" beats "Will I get fired?" 10. Tarot is a mirror, not a sentence. It shows patterns and possibilities; you still choose. Practice tip: pull one card every morning and write one line about it. After a month, you'll know your deck.

Internal Alchemy: The Lab Inside You
Outer alchemy tried to turn lead into gold. Internal alchemy works on a different metal: you. What it is Internal alchemy — neidan in the Daoist tradition — treats the body as a laboratory. Breath, attention and stillness are the tools; the goal is to refine your own energy into something clearer and stronger. The Three Treasures - Jing (essence): your physical foundation — sleep, food, vitality. - Qi (energy): the breath and life-force moving through you. - Shen (spirit): awareness, clarity, the light behind the eyes. The classic path is to protect your jing, grow your qi, and let both brighten your shen. The cauldron Practitioners focus on the lower dantian, a point roughly two finger-widths below the navel. Think of it as the furnace where the work happens. A five-minute starter practice 1. Sit upright, feet flat, hands resting on your lower belly. 2. Breathe slowly through the nose, letting the belly rise first. 3. On each exhale, imagine warmth gathering under your hands. 4. After five minutes, rest your attention there for three quiet breaths before getting up. As above, so within The Western alchemical stages — nigredo (blackening), albedo (whitening), rubedo (reddening) — map neatly onto inner work: face the shadow, clean it up, then live it out. Tarot is a great companion here; the Major Arcana reads like a map of that same transformation. This is a spiritual practice, not medical advice.
