November nights come early and long. This ritual uses The Bayou Lantern Tarot, the newest deck in the Nexus, to find your way through the dark one small light at a time.
What you need - The Bayou Lantern Tarot (or the free reader at /reader/decks/bayou-lantern) - One candle in a jar or lantern - A glass of water - A notebook
1. Light the lantern After dark, set the glass of water beside the candle and light it. Watch the flame in the water for a minute. Say: "Show me the next step, not the whole road."
2. Call the Lantern Keeper Take The Hermit, the card we call The Lantern Keeper, and stand it in front of the candle. Ask one question you have been carrying alone.
3. Draw three from the water Shuffle the rest of the deck and draw three cards face down: - What the fog is hiding - What the lantern shows me - The next step on the bank
Turn them over one at a time, read each meaning in the reader, and write down your first reaction.
4. Let the light rest Thank the deck, blow out the candle, and pour the water onto soil outside. Return The Lantern Keeper to the deck last.
Safety Never leave a candle burning unattended, and keep it away from cards, paper and curtains.
